In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986) Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs),one in each district, throughout the Country being administered by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), New Delhi . As such, one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been established in Yanam in 1987 in the temporary building in Yanam. Later Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti was allotted an area of 25 acres in near by mettakur village for constructing permanent buildings. The construction work was started in 1997 and the vidyalaya was shifted in to the permanent buildings in 2001. |
